Growing information: EVERGREEN SHRUB growing to 0.3 m (1ft) by 0.3 m (1ft in). This member of the Lamiaceae family from the Mediterranean now naturalized in the British Isles can be grown as ground-cover in free-draining or rockery situation and tolerates or even enjoys light shade. Hardy to minus 28ÂșC, it is amenable to light trimming so can be grown as a low edging border in the garden, with trimming best done in the spring. To be grown as a ground-cover, plant about 30cm apart each way. It is a slow-growing plant. Traditionally a common ingredient in digestive, stimulant tonic wines because of its medicinal effect on the digestion.
